Cycle 2 was rough!
Wow! Cycle 2 was much worse than cycle 1. I was vomiting at times and just felt all-around more miserable. Also, I missed three entire days of work plus several other hours scattered across various days.
I have checked with the oncologist, and they are going to change my treatments from oral chemotherapy to intravenous chemotherapy. My thinking is this: since I’m already missing as much work as if I were going into the office for the chemo anyway, I might as well do it intravenously and get it overwith. The intravenous chemo will be approximately every three weeks.
Assuming I get just as nausiated each time for just as long, I’ll still have a good two weeks (plus a few days) of “normal life” between treatments. This is more than I’m getting now on the oral chemo program. On top of that the actual periods of sickness should only last for a day or two instead of two weeks at a time.
My next chemo treatment (which will be my first via intravenous) will be on Monday, July 15th. I will go to the doctor’s office, and they will treat me in their “treatment room”. The nurse told me that the whole thing should only take a couple of hours.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying being off the chemo again!
As for other concerns, my weight has finally leveled off. It doesn’t look like I’m going to gain 10 lbs every time I have a treatment. Also since I’m shifting to intravenous, I’m going to see if I can start to take some of this extra weight back off again.
